I have a Sherwood raw water strainer bowl that I use for winterizing my engine each year. I fit it with a plastic garden hose barb. I then attach a hose from the strainer to a 5 gallon bucket, that also has a garden hose barb. It works great and has for years. Neat, clean operation.
But today I dropped the strainer bowl and the plastic hose barb fell right out. Stupid…. I’m guessing it reached its usable life span and the glue dried out.
Now I would to replace the plastic fitting with a brass one. The reason being, the plastic ones threads are stripped and it really doesn’t hold has tight. So I guess all in all it was a good thing that it dropped.
Are there adhesives that will bond the two pieces together and be watertight?
You know, it wasn’t the prettiest tool in the tool box, but it was a favorite and worked! I’m mad!
