Awesome video! It really captures the panic/scheduling/adjustments that goes on every time I haul the boat - doesn't matter if it's Marina Del Ray or Lynnwood.

I'm not sure I'd want a spreader bracket welded to the mast. Most spars are heat treated aluminum and lose much of their strength if they're heated, as would be the case where it is welded.
The Catalina videos were informative for an east coast sailor to help understand what all the fuss is about going to Catalina. I have been through L.A. a couple of times and it is cool to know something that nice is 25 miles away for saliors.

...the Hunter HC 50 "Fast Reorg" with the red hull in the yard was on my dock when I was in MDR, and I talked to them via VHF as they rounded Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as we were sailing to Puerto Vararta. And, I just saw her again in Ensenada Mexico having her bottom done again, so that video isn't recent. Also, Green Dragon, the Catalina 38 was a dock mate. Gary races her extensively and successfully. I can't imagine why anyone would care, but I felt the compulsive need to post this...

It's fun spotting boats we know! The video was filmed Feb 24-Mar 1 of this year. They put the mast on the Green Dragon on Friday, and I saw him heading out for a sail that Sunday (I was jealous, my mast didn't get put on until the Monday).
Give those guys a heads up about the video.

Great video Joel. I'll be in your neck of the waters tomorrow, Sunday. I have a chance to go out on a Catalina 27. He docks at Shoreline Yacht Club, T dock. We're leaving about 1:30. If you're in the area give us a holler, 818 720-2355. I'd love to see your new toy. The bigger boat should make going to Catalina a lot more comfortable.
