Knutson K-35 Yawl Bellingham
Yesterday, I got an email on a boat that an associate knew about. I liked what I saw, went to see her, sea trialed her and bought her on the spot. The price? $20 USD plus back moorage. The boat? 1961 Knudson K35 Yawl. LOD 35', LOA 40' beam 9'10" disp 14,000 lbs. The boat is in great shape and fully equipped.

And a great day for you, sounds like an exceptional deal. When you haul check the fasteners, pull a few, at that price you cna afford mucho work and materials. Anacortes is a calm protected harbor, until you get outside; brings back some pleasent memories. Beautiful in the San Juans...;-) If you need any advice on your Knudson call Mr Lee Earheart up that way, Seattle, he is the local expert and a real gentleman. He has a school for wood boats.

That is sweet....

What a great find. Man that is a gorgeous looking boat. Have tons of fun with her. But I must ask... was that $20,000.00 or or $20.00?

That was $ 20.00

plus the back moorage of around $700.00. She sails great! The mizzen is worn but the rest of the sails aren't bad. The bilge pump only cycle once all day.

Knutson took an S&S design and modified it

to build this one. I just found the original 1961 brochure, AMAZING!

Great find Charley.

Check out the website of the Ker-mor. There is alot of information on restoring. They dry docked theirs in Costa Rica and redid all of the wormed wood. Love to see it if you are ever in Southern California. Frank

There was a survey of both the hull and engine

done last week with no major issues but lotsa small ones. Mainly missing equipment required by the CG and the Insurance co. I already own the boat.

nice boat

...but looks like a lot of work to me. I am all about the classic plastics. More time to sail.

I've talked to a lot of folks

who own or have owned wood boats and the agreement is. Once you have a wood boat up to a certain level, it really doesn't take much more to upkeep it than a plastic boat. This boat is probably 90% right now. I reckon we'll see though.
