I am very Excited to Show this off

As many of you know, I have started putting my artwork on to custom boat parts. So far, mostly hatch boards. I finished this project this Winter and my client, Nate Bayreuther, of the Mariner Class Association commissioned a set. He maintains a Website for his boat Orion and has just pulled her out for the season. I want to point the wonderful SBO community over to his site where he is showing off my work.
Besides this blatant self-promotion, Nate's site was my first inspiration for my own hatch board project as well as other projects I have planned. Check him out. He is a fantastic and generous guy whose writing is top notch. The site is just generally a fun and informative sailing site, even if you are not a Mariner owner.

Thanks.

3000 years from now, when they find that hatch, will they wonder about that drawing and the "cavemen" who lived in our time?:)
I did like the concept of the Orion constellation.

Will, that's superb artwork. What type of wood if you don't mind me asking?

It is made from a 1/2 sheet of 1/2" marine grade ribbon striped Sapele ( the most common Mahogany substitute). Nate wanted to match other woodwork on his boat. He made a beautiful cockpit table with the scrap left over from his old mahogany boards. I thought it would be a bit too dark for wood burning, but it came out rather nicely. I used Rust-Oleum Water-based Verithane Spar-Varnish. It rates very high for durability and is nearly the equal of Epiphanes for UV protection, but it doesn't add that Amber hue to the wood. I put on 8 very thin coats.

That would be cool. At this time, I'm new to the full-time art biz, I haven't collected much inventory or samples. Almost all are custom one-of-a-kind pieces.
