Anyone have advice for mounting a hydraulic pump on a 3gm in a 33.5?

Just curious

What do you plan to do with the power generated?

Looks like a great idea. However, let me tell you about my great idea. About seven years ago, I bought a generator that ran off the PTO of my 3GMF. I thought that I didn't need to add another diesel engine and the related problems. Long story short-The company went bankrupt because people realized that a diesel engine is designed to run at 80% and that running at low rpm's will destroy it. Yes, the 5k generator works, but for every five hours that I run it at low rpm's I have to run under load at 3000+ rpm. I don't know how many rpm's you would have to run your engine to obtain the necessary energy to run the genset(the specs say 3600rpm but I don't know what that means) but I can tell you from experience that the Aux engine is designed to push the boat more than it is to run a generator. No charge. As to the way to mount a pump that will not destroy your aux engine. The mount for the gen. above was $1400 because it had to conform with all the Yanmar designs. If you want to see what is required to mount a PTO to a Yanmar check this site. "quicklinks" at the www.yanmarhelp.com.
