Just returned from St John a couple of days ago. Great vacation but had to see some sad sights. Even though Hurricane Earl went north of St John some owners decided not to take the warning serious. The south shore is where the worst damage was due to southern winds and wave. Great Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole took it on the nose. We visited Chocolate Hole about 10 days after the storm went through and talked to a couple trying to salvage what the could. They said no boat survived in Chocolate Hole. Think I counted seven boats on shore, one sunk, a couple of boats were destroyed and only pieces where left of them. Several boats were on shore over in Great Cruz in front of the Westin Resort, didn't go over there... Picture tells it all...
