is the yanmar 18hp enough power for this hull? i have heard you want at least a 2 to 1 ratio for hp to displacment. how's this boat in current and upwind?

i used to have a h31 and found her with enough power for ordinary conditions, but somewhat underpowered going into a strong chop, etc

2 to 1 HP to Displacement?

H31 displacment is 9900 #If you meant 2 to 1 HP to LOA, then 62 HP is still waaaaaaaay too much for the H31. Previous posts are right on with my boat too; 18 is plenty for everything but hull speed in a chop. Under standard rpm, I slow to 3.0 - 3.6 knots into the wind with chop up to 4'. big rig catching the wind that causes the 4' chop has more to do with it than the waves I think. I rarely motor however.The 18 HP is perfect for the 28.5
