I have a few questios on racing and hull speed. 1 Does anyone have any suggestions on increasing speed or hull speed of a 25 Hunter? (Already have new sails, good bottom paint, and experianced crew) 2 Does anyone have any good ways to help a hunter 25 from comming to weather so easily? (extend Keel? Larger rudder?) 3 Does anyone know the rating of a San Juan 24 or hull speed of a San Juan 24 1968? 4 Does anyone have any experiance racing against a 24 San Juan that might have some good tips? 5 Last but not least. Does anyone know how a San JUan 24 1968 and a Hunter 25 1974 stack up?

I have a few questios on racing and hull speed. 1 Does anyone have any suggestions on increasing speed or hull speed of a 25 Hunter? (Already have new sails, good bottom paint, and experianced crew) ANS: Use tacking on shifts, tell tales, more practice and more experience. 2 Does anyone have any good ways to help a hunter 25 from comming to weather so easily? (extend Keel? Larger rudder?) ANS: Move the sailplan forward by tightning forestay until helm is almost balanced.. This will increase speed by reducing drag also. 3 Does anyone know the rating of a San Juan 24 or hull speed of a San Juan 24 1968? ANS: PHRF Rating on the San Juan 24 = 216 the Hunter rates 222 (Northern Cal) 4 Does anyone have any experiance racing against a 24 San Juan that might have some good tips? ANS: Be of good cheer and enjoy. If you stay within 6 seconds per mile then you are doing well.. Try to use your windward advantage to its fullest.. 5 Last but not least. Does anyone know how a San JUan 24 1968 and a Hunter 25 1974 stack up? ANS: Remember we sail for fun and win or lose enjoy to the fullest... Good luck and good sailing: Jim Why Knot!
