Hunter-vs-Cat

I HAVE WORKED ON AND REPAIRED SEVERAL DIFERANT TYPES OF BOATS. I FEEL AS A PERFESIONAL MECHANIC NOT A AUTO MECH I CAN EVAULATE ALMOST ANY TYPE OF MACHINE .AFTER ALL A BOAT NOTHING BUT A MACHINE WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT SUB SYSTEMS . I OWNED A 1988 HUNTER LEGEND GRATE BOAT .I HAVE WORKED ON SEVERAL HUNTERS OLDER AND NEWER AND I NOW OWN A 1988 HUNTER 45 LEGEND. I COMPARE THESE BOATS FAVERLY TO BENATOS AND JENOES, NOT CATALINAS NOT IN THE SAME CLASS ONE MAIN THING I LOOK AT IS HULL TO DECK JOINT THROUGH BOLT YES MOST OTHER SYSTEMS NO ! ALSO PUMPS AND GEAR , I LIKE GEAR AT LEAST DESIGNED IN THE US NOT IN EUROPE OR JAPAN. SIMPLE SYSTEMS ARE BEST AND EASY TO REPAIR. ALSO KEEL CONECTIONS ARE KEY AND THE WAY STANDING RIGING IS CONECTED TO THE BOAT IF YOU ARE OUT IN IT YOU WANT A BOAT THAT WON'T COME APART. JUST MY NEVER SO HUMBLE OPINION. RAY

Janel, tell me more

Tell me more about the demise of Peninsula Marina! I lived aboard there from 1982 -1987 and loved it. IT was in great shape then, and was the best place to live for someone who worked at Stanford. I imagine it has undergone many changes over the years. What you are saying about it closing reminds me of the closing of Palo Alto's harbor about fifteen years or so ago. Very sad. So, where would one now berth in the South Bay? Is Pete's still open?
