Wow Steve...

no responses, I'm surprised. Those boats have the same aluminum holding tank my '94 35.5 HAD. None of them lasted much past 8 years or so, hence my refrence to "HAD", so I would definitely look around for holding tank leaks if it hasn't been replaced. My wife and I chartered a 36 Vision and liked the interior space, although I could not keep from banging my head on the rack above the "island" in the center of the galley. Boat seemed to be slow in low winds, but took off in winds above 12-15 kts. Wish I could help more.

Thanks!

Honeyman: Thank you for the reply. I am aware of the holding tank problem. This boat still has the original tank. I don't think this boat has been used very much. It has the original engine with "less than 100 hrs". Light wind is usually not a problem in the Delta & S.F Bay, so I am not too worried about that. It appears that there were only about 60-65 of these boats built. I am not too suprised about the lack of responses. We never hear too much from the Vision owners. The few owners that I have contacted have had very positive comments.

We have

a Vision 32. We love it. We chartered a Vision 36 several years ago, and we thought it was great. I wish we could afford to move up to the V36. The Visions (32 & 36) are a little slow in light air, but, do they ever fly when the wind starts blowing !! When all of the conventional rigs are reefing at 20 knots, we just ease the MainSheet out a little more. We've been in 30+ knots and never reef. The aluminum mast will bend at the top and spill. I suppose over 30 knots I'd reef, just for peace of mind, but with the huge mainsail, it shouldn't slow you down. And, the Vision's are great running downwind. Our Vision 32 points a little better than the V36 did. Sail trim with the big main and fractional rig is a little different than conventional rigs, but it just takes some sailing to get used to trimming the boat, and that's what you'll be doing. We're adding refrigeration to ours, the Adler-Barbour Cu-100. I'm going to put the compressor in the bilge, ahead of the icebox. That should be a pretty easy installation for running the wiring and tubing. The V36 we chartered had a water cooled refrigeration, but you shouldn't need that at all. If your icebox is like ours, there is 2" of foam. You might look in the Owners list and email a few of them for more info. Gene

Thank Gene!

Gene: Thank you for the reply. I think that this boat is going to do fine in our area. We generally see winds from 10 to 20+ kts. most of the summer. When it goes lite we can bob along under the bimini. Do you have an autopilot? Which one? Regards, Steve

and, We have

the ST4000, I think it was original on our boat. It works well, and it is the only one I have ever used on any boats that I have sailed with an autohelm. The new ST4000 MK2 is about $1000, and they have an upgrade for ours for $500. You can interface your GPS with it and go right to waypoints instead of a degree heading. We don't have a wind speed/direction on our boat, just the St4000 and a tri/data. We did just install a new dodger/bimini/side curtains. What a difference that made. It was a little spendy ($5000), but....... Our next new toy is going to be a chart plotter, probably the Garmin 192C, as it comes loaded with all US Coastal charts, and only costs about $700. It will interface with the ST4000 just like a GPS. As long as I'm talking upgrades, think about installing Trojan T-145 batteries (6v in series). They aren't very expensive, and will significantly upgrade your housepower. I have 2, you might have room for 4, I don't remember where your batteries are located. Gene
