I currently drive an H28.5 but always look at my next big boat. Plans are to keep this boat for about 7 years and then upgrade. I was looking on yachtworld and came across a Vision32. Did not know this model existed. Wow, what a boat. I am curious why it was discontinued? I thought the idea of no shrouds was the way to go; less maint, fewer possibilities of deck leaks, etc. I would be interested in hearing from others about these models. I did read the reviews on this site. They are almost all identical in their praise of this boat. What happened?

I was told...

That the spar became cost prohibitive. Especially now, with the price of aluminum gone sky-high, if the spar ever came down it would cost mega $$$ to replace. Most of the owners we've heard from really liked their boats.

What Steve O Said >>>>

...as a former nine-year very satisfied Vision 32 owner, I was told the same thing by a Hunter rep. The newer Hunters also are able to have a similar large main - small jib configuration with a lot less expense and weight aloft. You are correct about the assets. I tried to find a 36 but none were available. If I were to design a custom boat today based upon that ownership experience, it would be a free-standing rig..... hands down. Of course with a large majority of new deliveries of mid and large sailboats today with in-mast furling, a free-standing rig wouldn't work for any production builder. Rick D.

Thank you

What a shame to loose a nice model due to the expense of aluminum. Thank you for the responses.

Don't overlook the 36's

as the "big brother" of the 32, it adds a lot more than just 4 feet to the length. And, I agree, owners, like me, and sailors of the Visions can find little to fault.
