When I have purchased a 1991 Hunter Vision 32 I was told that the main halyard winch motor was not working and I would have to repair or replace it. When I gained access to the motor I found that the unit would be very difficult to repair due to the fact it was not there. I am wondering if anyone out there may have an old motor in working order or not they may wish to part with as well as the drive coupling for a barreint 22-39 2 speed self tailing winch. If not perhaps someone could give me a part number directly off the unit itself. I am also locking for ideas to add refridgeration capability to our ice box and additional fresh water capability to extend or cruising range. We would like to cruise Desolation Sound this year and find that the water capacity will only allow us about 4 days, any suggestions on where to add the extra capacity.

capacity your boat has but just as a point of reference, it took Karen Thorndike two years to sail solo around the world stopping eight times enroute with a 40 gallon fresh water tank on her 36 foot sloop. Terry

A week on 45 gallons.
With good fresh water discipline - using it only for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and washing our face, the Admiral and I would run out of holding tank long before we would exhaust the 45 gallons of fresh water claimed for the Vision 32 on this site. Sailing our fresh water sea does help (you need fresh water to rinse after washing in the salt, while we don't). But I still think that reasonable fresh water discipline would get you through a week. If not, take a couple of jerry cans of fresh water to supplement the tank. David Lady Lillie

...there are two deep compartments. You can put a 15 gallon bladder bag on each side if you wish. Also, add a raw water pump into the galley to save all the gallons you use washing dishes. I'd be surprised if you are able to add refrig capasity without doing a hatchet job. That box has a large capasity to begin with. Suggest you get a folding ice chest to keep the beer in and use the refrig for food. Does the prior owner have the parts??? I would certainly hound them before trying to find the parts used. I'd really be surprised if you are able to find them. THat's a shame since any decent electric motor rebuild shop should be able to repair a motor. Rick D.
