Trying to get some ideas for hanging the anchor off the bow. The anchor roller that came with the boat is very small and looks like I would have to cut it out to install an anchor roller. Has anyone attempted to do this?

Since there was no way one could get their arm and hand between the anchor locker and the hull, I used Garlick Stainless-Steel Toggle Anchor Bolts to secure the new anchor roller. Works great Now I just need a heavier anchor.

Hi under the better late than never, I just installed a bigger anchor roller and a manual winch. Wasnt easy however the results were worth it. Ur right the original roller is pretty useless and I too, was tired of manhandling the anchor. Note I added a cleat on the side of the anchor well to secure the chain or rope to remove any tension from the winch.

I pretty sure its 32 kilogram. Im heading to the boat later this week and I will let you know if Im wrong and give u the correct size . The anchor has worked flawlessly in the 5 years Ive owned the boat and its never dragged . Ive been caught in some 50 kt plus storms so Im a believer.

Its a vetus manual winch. Dont know much about it, I bought it used, off a classified site. Its been working great and is a back saver. I can pull the boat easily till the chain is vertical then use the winch. It lifts the chain aprox one foot per crank.

  • As a young man that would be an "easy 33 cranks in 10 meters of water (straight up) no problem dude".
  • An older man might say "33 cranks... my aching back." And yet crank away he would.
  • An Old Man says "where is the power man... Give me an electric windlass... let's get out of here."
To each his own....
