Did see that before, but neat to watch again. Thats' Steve Pettingill, Hunter's Crash Test dummy.

From an article in Sailing Magazine

Interestingly, we motored right past the beach where Steve Pettengill, Hunter’s director of offshore testing, renowned round-the-world sailor and self-proclaimed crash-test dummy, repeatedly grounds each new Hunter model. We opted out of that test, but were comforted to know that every new model is required to pass it.

My initial (rookie) thought is its sand. So what? But you can actually see the boat rise while pitching forward, so it is quite a hit. Maybe they should try doing that against a concrete boat ramp. That would sell some boats.

I don't know if this has already been posted, if so I have not seen it, thought it might be of interest,

Bob...Thanks for bringing back some memories.... I wonder if they were doing this back in 2002 ? If so then this may explain what happened here.... I assumed it was because the way the boat was loaded on truck and shipped from Florida to Texas. Big Ass Roaches shipped along for free!
Was always suspicious why they were so quick to drop boat in water as soon as boat arrived, not letting me see it on truck before it was launched. Then 10 months later this is what I was greeted with during a quick haul on my still brand new $$$$$$$$$$ Boat.

They were not doing this test with all the boats, just one from each production line that would be run through the paces. Unlikely the "test" boat would be sold as new.

The Hunter Keel Smile...

Bob
I wanted it to come off and get re-bedded, but they would not pay for it! All they would do was gouge out around the hull keel seem and then trowel in some 5200. ......To your last question ....Answer no !.... 12 years later and I am still on my own. Do not expect any help in that regard.
Keel bolts do not seem to be leaking yet so in that respect I feel lucky. I still love the boat. Have strong emotional attachment. That's why I am still here;) ;)... I know how and what needs to be done to fix all the "old" manufactures lack of common sense screw ups. I really would not mind fixing all the screw ups myself...Making them right.... Its just hard to do with no work coming in and no regular paychecks to help pay for it.
