Can anyone tell me where the manufacturer's plate is in a Hunter 466? I've been asked to captain one in a few weeks and the owner wants to bring aboard 12 people... Anyone know the capacity of this boat? Thnx. Skip

I know these are on small boats, but I have never seen one in my memory over 24', power or sail. Could it be that there is a cut off? Maybe it's open boats only? I don't know the answer but will be interested in the answer from someone that does. In the case of larger cabined craft, it would seem that a lot of complication arises as to the stores carried, tankage, location of stores, etc that would make the passenger-carrying capasity only part of the story. Guest capacity of a 46' Hunter
For a day sail, any 46' sailboat can carry more passengers than would be comfortable aboard. 12 would be nowhere near capacity. Just be sure you have a CG approved life jacket for each one.

I checked the Federal, Rhode Island, and Connecticut requirements, and only the Connecticut guide stated that the capacity plate was present on boats under 20'. The federal regulations have a chart that is only applicable to boats under 20', but it doesn't state what length boats have the capacity plate. 12 people? Landlubbers? Glad I'm not the captain.....

The Coast Guard does not reqire a capacity plate on any boat larger than 20' nor on a boat that was constructed before 1 Novemember 1972 As a general rule here is a formula to determine passanger capacity People = Length X Width divided by 15 (with the average weight of 150# per person) 46 X 14 / 15 = more than twelve and way more than I would want to be on the boat with and I certainly would not want to be the one providing beer and food for that crew
