I am certain this is in here somewhere but I cannot find it. I want to replace the 4" round logo on our boat. Mine are pretty sun crazed and look terrible. I have purchased replacements from the store. I am certain someone has removed them. Can you share the best way (and safest) to remove the old logo?

Having never done it, I can only defer to those who have described their method which was the prudent use of a heat gun or hair dryer.

I'd suggest a hair dryer ONLY and grab one edge and start pulling slowly. No heat gun as they put out air somewhere around 500 deg.

Plenty of patience and go slow. Rush it and all bets are off.

The job is done and here are the lessons learned! There are 3 layers to the logo. The first is the thick layer that crazes in the sun. Heat it up with a hair dryer. Once it is warm it will peel right off. The second layer is the foil. Again heat it up and it will peel off as well. Probably come apart but it is not difficult. the third layer is the adhesive. Spray some goo b gone on it and wait a little bit. I used a dull paint scraper to get it off with. It takes a little time to get it all off but it will come pretty easily after a couple of sprays. Wash the area with warm soapy water. Make certain there is no more adhesive left. Rinse and dry. Re apply the new logo! Lessons learned 1. Don't do it is direct sunlight. 2. Apply slowly to avoid air pockets. Have a seam roller available to depress the logo and attach firmly. If you do get a air pocket (I did) do not try to peel it back off. You will wreck it. Last resort I took a straight pin and pressed it in to give the air and escape route. Thanks all for your suggestions. BTW the logo they sell on the SBO store is just a little smaller than the original. Not significant but still smaller.

Aha said the blind man, now I see.

Probably would have been able to clean off the adhesive layer with the rubber wheel decal remover :

Exactly the instructions I received with my vinyl name decals. Worked perfectly.
