I have a 1988 Hunter Legend 35 with a Yanmar 3GM30F and want to access the top of the engine. Has anyone removed the platform that is the first step from the main hatch?

My buddy Ron removed the drawer assy in the aft berth. Then he removed the step on top of the engine. He then made it so he can R/R for oil fills and proper access.
Hunter learned about access in the future models. The newer versions have access from all five sides. A removable panel both port and stbd, a removable panel aft and a hinged top step with tool box under are all removable. The stairs in front lift away for total access.
You could duplicate all these cutouts in the older version.
