Hunter Head Question

Let me begin by saying that I am fairly new to my boat and just discovering how some things work (or don't work).

I have a 1985 Hunter 28.5 and cannot seem to get the head to drain completely. I open the drain valve, turn on the water and push the "flush" button (above the toilet) to fill the bowl. I then turn the lever to dry (or off) and push the "flush" button again.

The water seems to flush out fine (and into the holding tank, I assume), but the bowl fills up with water. How do I flush this all the way out?

That water backflow is there for a purpose. It helps prevent offensive gases from escaping into the cabin. The dry selector button only means that no new water will be pumped in.

There's another thing you might consider if the above response is not your answer and that is......that the location of intake seacock hose is not looped sufficiently above the waterline so that lake/sea water backs into your bowl.

I need to find out the make of the toilet. That will probably help a good deal.

I should clarify that the bowl fills with a significant amount of water (not just a little). It is enough that when sailing, a good bit spills out.

I have a feeling that I am missing a step or doing something wrong. I will post the type of toilet as well as a picture (to make sure I am hitting all the right levers).

The toilet is a Par Electric Toilet. I spent a little more time working on it yesterday, but still can't get it to drain completely.

From what I can tell, it is flushing the contents out of the bowl, but the bowl then fills up with an equal amount of water. The bowl is about 1/2 full of water.

Any thoughts? Please keep in mind that I am fairly new to this and could very well (and very likely) be missing an obvious step. Or it could be broken.

The problem is fixed. It was as simple as replacing the joker valve, which was badly worn.

Unfortunately, my solution also turned up a few other problems... so is the life of owning a boat.
