I am purchasing a 25.5 and the decal stripes on the cabin are in bad shape. Does anyone know of a place to get new decals or have any reccomendations on how to remove the old ones?

Me Too...

Joe, what year is your 25.5? Mine is 86'. I just aquired a 25.5 also, and am looking to do the same. i think you can get them from Hunter, but my Son works with graphics and decals, and he says that he can do them. Send me an E-Mail with your address and I will let you know.

Decals

I just got new decals for my H23 direct from Hunter Marine. 22 ft of striping tape (correct colors too, if that matters to you), and the Hunter logos cost me $22.00 with shipping! Only took 10 days to get here from Florida!

Mine are bad too

I have been considering removing them with a heat gun and razor blades. If you find a source for new ones could you let me know also. Thanks, Dan e-mail: dav8or@usa.com

Heat gun, maybe...razorblades, no

Unless you really know what you're doing with a heat gun, use a blow dryer. It may take a little longer to soften the adhesive enough to pull the decals off, but it won't melt your gelcoat. It's too easy to scratch the gelcoat with a razorblade...soften the decal with heat, then pull it off, don't try to scrape it off. You'll need patience, 'cuz prob'ly have do a little at a time. To remove the adhesive residue, spray with good ol' WD-40...wait--in fact, have a beer. Then scrub with a plastic scrubber and wash the area well with a strong solution of detergent and water, followed by a very thorough rinse. This method also works to remove striping and vinyl boat names.

Removed mine in less than 1 hour.

Joe: I removed mine in less than 1 hour. I tried to use a hair dryer and had very poor success (after baking in the sun for 12 years you can understand why). I used an eraser on an electric drill. Check it out in the Photo Forum. http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=Dion73043149949

Steve, Thanks for the information on the Smart Eraser. Looks like a great help. I found a web site where you can purchase the eraser at about 1/2 the price you paid and wanted to share with everyone. One question, does the eraser have a shaft that attaches to the drill or do you have to jury rig the eraser. Again thanks for sharing the info and your experiences.
