37.5 Anchor Windlass
We installed a Sprint 1000 in our '91 37.5 a year ago, prior to heading off to the Bahamas for 8 months. First off I would say don't bother with the capstan, it's useless. We used 100' of 5/16th high test chain spliced to 150' of 5/8" nylon rode. This worked very well, for we were seldom in water deep enough to get into the nylon. We always used a 1/2" nylon chain snubber attached to a chain hook. We had some problems with the windlass jambing and, because there is so little clearance under it, I found I had to sit with my feet in the anchor locker and manually strip the chain away so it wouldn't pile up (these are two separate issues). By in large, the system has worked rather well. Our anchor is a 44lb Bruce (held VERY well.)Bud
