Hi there, today i tried to start my yanmar 4JHE that hasnt be started in 4 years.
After changing the main fuel filter and i supplied fresh diesel from a container and used an electric fuel pump. I bled the air at the main filter cannister. I used the inlet pipe on the fuel filter to supply the fresh fuel. I bled the filer at the housing but only one injecter had fuel going to it #2 from the front the others were dry! I changed the fuel lines from the filter housing to the injection pump and to this round small matal object shaped like a checker with several small bolts possible that the cover may come off not too sure what it is. I havent gotten my workshop manuel in the mail yet. If im not getting fuel now to all of the injectors what am i missing? I appreciate all help here im not sure if the injection pump needs bleeding or it is just faulty! Fuel is definately going to the injector pump!

I think that round thing is the fuel "lift" pump that feeds the high pressure injection pump from the tank. Fuel from tank goes through a filter then to that pump then through the filter on the engine then to the HP injection pump.. The line from the filter to the HP pump needs to be bled.. the electric pump should let ya do that easily.. Then after that.. try cracking the fuel line at the injector while the electric pump is running.. If everything is full, you may (or not) get some air/diesel out there before trying to turn over the engine.. A pain to do..
EDIT: Looks like a bleed screw on the end of the HP pump opposite the end where the fuel comes in from the filter.. bleed there too..
