SOOO The face of this panel got washed a few weeks ago and all the markings came off. I know there is a parallel switch and one is the high water alarm for the bilge and I forget what else was on there ... Anyway can another 49 owner send a picture of theirs for reference or at least remind what me which switches do what ... Thanks

Can’t help but it would be of interest to everyone to know what you used to wash it that destroyed the markings.

I sprayed the area with Starbright Black Streak remover. Which by the way nicely cleaned off the black streaks running down the pedestal.

The other switch is for the blower fan
Also, there is the high water pump.
When you toggle this switch, the rather loud alarm will sound
When I get aboard, I’ll send a photo
O
I do believe this panel is in the online docs

Hi Kevin.

While taking over a Hunter 50 2007, the panel was in bad condition so rather to repainting I made the drawing and commissioned to an online company for less that $100.

In the attached file you can see the labels and quotes in case you deem better to have a new one.

This is the company I used, made the drawing with the free CAD they provided, online quote and got the part in approx 10 days: https://ibfriedrich.com/en/index.html

Warmest regards

G

I think if I commissioned a new one I would some how like to integrate a built in cover and maybe recess the whole thing. I took a quick look at the web site you sent but couldn't figure out to attempt a drawing. If a come up with a recess design I think it will be best if it was made out of some sort of plastic ... What is the one you had made, made out of?

By the way thank you for the diagram showing the markings ... blower was the one I couldn't think of

how Big of a hole did you cut out under that starboard (or whatever it is)?

I am contemplating something similar on my O’Day 322 to raise the engine panel up so I can see the tach, etc. i am a little Leary of cutting a big hole in my coming though.

i think I could Add some teak trim around the panel to allow enough room for a clear cover, but if you had to cut a big hole in the coming anyway, then recessing it would be even nicer.

Actually I did the new panel in painted alluminium. PVC was also an option but I thought it would lack rigidity to keep the sealant enough pressed to the GRP/gelcoat structure.

Thank you to all that sent the labeling info ... I read it and said oh yeah that's what that was .... old age is hell on memory. I haven't yet decided on how I'm going to fix the problem (currently a black sharpie label is a far as I have gotten). I'm talking to a plastic's molding guy about recessed ideas. As Tally Ho suggests above I'd need to cut a good size hole in the molded pedestal approximately 6"x8" if I just recess the panel. However, I am also considering adding thruster controls and the VHF connection to the panel so all could be covered then the hole would need to be larger. I not as motivated as Mark AKA B757Captain; so my current plan is to crack open a beer and sit and ponder the subject.

I’ve got the recessed angled housing already made c/w clear plexi hinged cover.
I just haven’t gotten around to cutting the massive hole and installing it.
It’s on the list.
