High just wondering what others are doing when the spring breaks on the door handle. The weight of the handle causes it to drop or unlock/open the door. I have two now doing this and cant quite bring myself to pay $480 USD ($240 each) for the coil spring that's broken inside.
So what are you doing ?

I moved the handle so it is pointed down. At least the door stays closed and will open. like you hoping I can find a source for the springs

Ah so funny I thought I was the only cheep skate to do that :)
FYI I have also pulled the mechanism apart and re-bent the short tend spring. That gave me another 2 years.

Can't say for sure without seeing the spring but most can be copied using a wire bending jig and piano wire. Good luck.

+1 gfrazzle. That's what I did on my 40.5 for two door latches. It was a bit trial & error, but they are doing fine after maybe a dozen years.
