To owners of 49 & 50 AC..
I ran into a fairly significant problem, and thought I’d pass it along
In the sail locker, there is actually a bottom bilge. To access this, you need to take everything out of the locker, and then remove the 2 floor pieces
You will then see another removable wood piece at the very bottom.
Water collects in here, and there is a drain fitting, which connects through a hose back into the bow thruster locker. There is no automatic pump, and because this area is hard to inspect, you likely won’t find out about this until it’s too late.
The problem is that this drain can become blocked with crud, and the water will rise up in the compartment.
The aft wall is wood, and will totally disintegrate around the drain fitting. This is a major repair.
The next issue I found was in the anchor locker. Over time, the floor of this locker can develop small cracks, owing to the weight of chain bouncing up and down in the waves.
This permits water to penetrate the wood core underneath the anchor locker sole.
I suggest you do a full inspection of this area with a moisture meter.
