Could someone give me an idea how much bottom paint they used for a Hunter 49 or 50. I am getting it done in the Caribbean where a gallon of Micron 66 or 99 goes for up to $700 CAN.

The quantity will depend on how many coats you intend to employ.

Last bottom job in 2021 used 5 gallons. I suggest you look at Seahawk Biocop TF paint. Has worked unbelievably well. First bottom job with it in 2016 lasted 5 years. When boat was hauled, bottom still looked great. Yard charged $301.00 per gallon in FL.

Our boat requires a little over a gallon per coat. Do our bottom every seven years and 2018 was the last time requiring almost three gallons for two coats of ablative.

Thanks for this. The paint calculator on the Micron site suggested just over a gallon per coat for Micron 99, but your usage of 5 gallons is more in line with the estimate I received.

Five gallons for a 50' boat seems high to me, that is unless they plan on applying four to five coats. I apply ours with a one inch diameter dense foam roller.

Last time I did mine it took about 1 and 3/4 gallons per coat. So Three coats on an every 3 to 5 year bottom job 5 gallons sounds about right. FYI I also use Sea Hawk Biocop TF
