I need to replace the stauntion bases on my 460 (2000 model). I can't seem to source these. Does anyone have any suggestion of where I could buy these bases. Many thanks, Paul

Go to Hunter

Stanchions are best ordered through Hunter. They have a vendor foundry who gathers up orders and makes them in batches. I lost one on my H320 when I hit a Coast Guard cutter (don't ask), and it took several months but they got it. The feet were short a half inch, but I compensated with stainless steel washers. Call the 800 number in Florida, I don't have it at home.

Hit a Coast Guard cutter

Last summer I was motoring H320 over to Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown, Virginia, to pick up a client who was joining five guys. As I entered the marina, I misread the wicked current and wound up sliding into a Coast Guard training vessel that was parked. The young men in training were awestruck and useless until the elderly dockmaster ordered them to fend off. My starboard beam smashed into his bow, ripping out the stanchion and doing some fiberglass damage. The CG boat was bulletproof, not so much as a nick.

We got free and tied off, awaiting our friend. Being guys, no one talked about it and we sailed away. Two hours later two Coast Guard boats came after us with blue lights blazing. "Prepare to board!" They had forgotten to do the paperwork. Later their commander called me to see if I was going to file a claim against the government for the damage. Of course not, since it was totally my fault.

Re: Hit a Coast Guard cutter

Thanks Deadline.

I'll try Hunter. I tried the shop attached to HunterOwners.com and they don't sell them. Given the number of Hunter 460s out there I'd have thought they'd be available off the shelf. Maybe I'll get lucky and they're about to do a batch.

Cheers, Paul
