Has anyone with a 45DS found the SeaTalk backbone, I have a 2009 DS and have been looking off and on for 4 years and cannot locate it. I want to add AIS to the system and have tracked down every wire behind every panel but cannot find it. I was thinking about buying a borescope and following the wires through the raceways to track it down but thought I would ask the experts first. I am also trying to find where my ST60 wind, speed and depth transducers, etc., feed information into the backbone.

Any help or direction to the proper thread would help.

Welcome to the forum!!

Not a 45DS but my 46 has it located inside the panel adjacent to the navigation station. Recently connected AIS from my Standard Horizon VHF radio to Raymarine chartplotters at the cockpit helm and navigation station.

That was the first place I looked but the opening is small and my head is big. I am 6'5" and cannot get into tiny openings. That being said, I have used a flashlight and mirror and several yoga moves and still find nothing but wires coming in and disappearing out. My instruments from wind depth and speed go up to the instruments in the cockpit and down and disappear under the floor. I do not wish to start removing the subfloor to follow.

Hi
I have a 2011 45DS and also installed ais.
There are 2 places that have easy access.
1 behind the cushion in front of the navtable
2 go to the aft starboard lazarette and remove the storage buckets. You can then climb down into the aft mechanical area There you will find the steering mechanism and network wiring going into the cockpit electronics.

When I installed my AIS I added a dropper for the ais in the aft compartment, with an arial on the stern Railing And the AIS unit in the upper storage compartment in the aft stateroom.

good luck with your install.

I have looked in both those areas and can find the wires but no T connecters or way to tie in
