Anyone have an opinion on the Hunter 45 of 86-89 vintage? Do these boats have any generic faults either design or construction? The original engine is I believe a Yanmar 4JHTE anyone had one of these? All comments, warts and all appreciated.
I have had a 87 for 4 years and love it. If this one still has the Hood roller furling system plan to replace it. I race it and the wife uses it as a Condo. The engine is just great burns a little more than a 1 1/2 gal per hour @ 3000 rpm's. I understand that some of the early models had to have the back stay's reinforced at the deck. I added another set of batterys for the ice box. Great boat for the money Any big time questions. Give me a call 616-437-6933 Rod
We bought one about two months ago. Sails great. Working out the kinks as the boat hasn't been used for a while, but we are happy. Refrigeration is poor, seems to really suck the batteries. We are still trying to figure out the electrical system to debug the problem. We put two solar fans in to keep the boat clean/dry smelling. Big boat, takes a while to get going, but then really cruises.
