We just bought a 1997 Hunter 430 and need to rebuild the Volvo 50 or replace it. Should we replace it with a rebuilt Yanmar or new Volvo or Yanmar?

If nothing wrong with the installation, why not rebuild? A good mechanic will put it in zero time condition. Swapping everything for a different block seems to be a lot of trouble, even given that most of the systems will need replacement anyway. IMHO, Rick D.

Stephen: Have you thought about a replacement engine. Used engines from a boat where someone repowered? Have you done any cost analysis on the different options? Didn't the insurance company cover the loss?

Since the (at least my) 430 fuel tank does not have a separate drain I am planning to install a second primary fuel filter, parallel to the first one!
