During heavy rains, water is seeping into the main cabin headliner in our 1998 Hunter 430. It eventually makes its way to the electrical panel, cabins lights, and chart table vertical handhold where it drips thru. Any idea how this is occurring? I caulked around the "clothers dryer tubing" at the cowl vents but am not sure that is it. No other obvious place for water to get in. Thanks (and yes, it does rain in San Diego...)

Headliners leak

My 29.5 leaks so bad that I had to remove the slats permanently to let the foam drain. I suspect it's coming from the stanchion post holes or the rubrail openings, which need to be recaulked.

Yes, the stanchions!

Rick, I had the same problem on my 430, on both sides! It turned out to be the holes of the stanchion posts. Easy to repair! Good luck. Wim

Another Possiblity

There are two fibreglass covers over the line organizers, which I remove each year on our 430 to clean and lubricate the guides. Two or three years ago after this routine I washed the boat and noticed that there were leaks in the headliner lights. I removed the covers again and filled the screw holes with a generous dose of epoxy using a srynge. I then drilled out the holes using a small bit and filled them again with Sylkaflex (sp) and screwed the cover back down and I have not had a leak since (touch wood)! Peter Milne S/V Blue Heron

Thanks

Thanks all - suspect it is the covers or the stanchions - will work both.
