It doesn’t work on wrap around windshield it helps but the wedges and a Dremel from inside will, but don’t plan on reusing old windshield

So everybody has a snap down canvas cover for windshield now I know why $$

795 is good but not the best. I just replaced a fixed port lite/lens on my 08 41ds. Sikaflex is the best. Along with the Sikaflex you will need the activator and the primer , very expensive but you don't want to do this 2x. Most of the fixed lites/ports/windshields are in a bed of dried compound with no mechanical fasteners. You are correct in assuming a 1/2" expansion during direct sun exposure. On my boat I didn't have to remove the AL frame /bezel. You could see the outline of the acrylic lens and I cut out the bedding perimeter to remove it. Scrape out all of the old compound, clean area throughly with denatured achool, sand the area where new bedding is to be applied, follow directions, use the primer and activator, use blue tape as much as possible on lens, AL frame. It will take 2 applications to get your lens bedding 100%. Happy days when you are complete.

So you don’t think it was the Sikaflex that failed on the boat yard installation but the fact that the windshield was 1/8” bigger than the bedding hole would be my guess. My new windshield was cut smaller and fits in bedding hole a lot better

I have a second problem with boat yard after they laid new glass and resin the bedding surface on both right and left side on top was not flat and straight the window was sucked down by the glue and it looked like a sign wave the old bedding had been redone and beat up pretty bad when the 1st windshield was removed by them we saw the damage so I’m going down to re resin and glass so it will match shape of new shield

So when we look at what happened it proves that if surface the glue is on is not even and straight which this one is not you can see with out straight edge then the glass will be pulled down where the bed falls down and up where it rises I have the pics of the upper wave form

The previous owner had auto bondo falling out when the 1st window was pulled so we have to rebuild correctly
