Our 40.5 Legend also sails on its anchor quite a bit. Wind speed does not matter faster just makes it the frequency go up. We have full canvas and curtains on the bimini and it makes no differance. Tried dropping a stern anchor once which worked well till the wind shifted. Probably should recycle some of the sail cloth to make a riding sail.

As opposed to "bridal", also having something to do with chain.

Bridal that's it that's what I use and let it mantus chain hook with locking plastic piece to keep from coming loose and let the bridal set just below the water line.

Hey Bill, you're correct in that the cockpit enclosure makes no positive difference - shape and location is all wrong. Also, I do not like dropping a stern anchor unless absolute necessary for the reason you point out. Try the Delta Riding Sail at Banner Bay. It helps substantially.

I found a bridle and lots of chain helps the swing. Also on a couple of occasions have dropped a small mushroom anchor for our dinghy straight down off the stern. That slows us down and so limits the amplitude of the oscillation. Easy to rig.
