Hunter 426 2003 model with 44 Deck Salon Signs

Can any one tell me why some Hunter 426 models have 44 Deck Salon on the side of them. I have just recently purchased a 2003 Hunter 44 Deck Salon, but when reading thru the piles of info on board I discovered the original sale dockets, were it calls the boat a Hunter 426. I checked and it has the identical hull number so that is my boat. I have done several searches on yacht sites and found several other yachts that are called 42Ft hunter 44 Deck Salon with the sticker on the side as well. Any one have any Idea why they are called this or is it a con job to sell a 426 as a 44?

The hulls are identical it's just Hunter math and when asked they said they are model numbers and not length.

There are some models that are built on common hulls and even deck molds, but have differences in finish or component parts. The part numbers changed to accommodate a new numbering series. 450 to 456, 356 to 36, Legend 35 to Legend 35.5, and the 426 to 44 are all examples.
