Hunter 410 Windlass Replacement

Working my way through the list of broken crap on my new to me 410. Just got it back after new standing rigging and hull restoration. Was going to head out to the islands but was checking my ground tackle and the windlass is seized. Motor engages when I push up/down but just clicks. When I try and turn it with the winch handle it won’t budge.
It’s a Simpson Lawrence. Does anyone know if there are newer options that bolt in its place without new hole drilling?

Parts for most SL winches are readily available. Because of their location, seizing is common and they are generally easy to disassemble and repair.

You can look at the below decks portion and you might see a model number. Parts are now extremely limited and difficult to get. Most likely, the seal was not replaced and water got into the gearbox.... you can't get those anymore.

There are no exact matches, but if you have a sprint / sprint atlantic (vertical), the Lofrans X2 / X3 have a nearly identical bolt pattern (they need an additional hole for the chain counter sensor). A windlass change often requires a bit of sanding / gelcoat, marine filler or glasswork....

You probably have an Anchorman 700 or 1000. If spare repair parts are needed, the only source I know is UK SL Spares .

Just throwing this out there, have you tried resetting the main breaker directly under your nav table (I have a 410) if tripped you will only get the clicking.
The only thing the winch handle could do is loosen the center (counter clockwise) which will loosen the drum allowing the anchor to fall freely, it needs to be tightened in order to pull up anchor. It will not move the drum as you tried to do.
Try, before you rip it apart, I was in your exact predicament when I got the boat.
Also, engine should be running if you are anchoring.

Well, you were absolutely right. The guy at the boatyard must have been trying to sell me a new windlass. Once the boat was running it worked fine. Thank you for the tip!!!!
