I keep about six aboard. I replace one a year on average. I looked at alternatives but was not happy with them.

I think the alignment of those latches is the key. Some of mine are original since I've owned my 410 for 7 years. Those missing or broken I replaced, had some trouble at first with them, tried a different alignment and now going on 4 years without a hiccup.
I thank this site for having the original parts available.

Just as a FYI i took those OEM plastic latches off my freezer and frig lids at least 6 years ago and the system worked as good without them (better i think) and i have full time cruiser the past 3.5 years. But Ii would like some latches that definitely pulled the lids down tight without taking a lot of counter space.

Plastic? My refrigerator/freezer lids are recessed stainless steel latches that release with a 90 degree turn. Now...the shelves were plastic but I have replaced them with brushed aluminum. I have a 1998 H410.

Well I doubt it came from the factory that way. So did you do it and if so how about some pics and details?

I agree stupid design . Why they don't use house freezer design with magnetic sael???
I put coin size strong magnets in corner to overcome gas strut power to get sufficient seal...works great.

The strut only helps open and keep up the lid. It does not hold it down at all, in fact, it's pushing against it. The latches are supposed to keep then clicked down against the seal, stop them from bouncing open in a very rough seaway.

Not sure if they would work for your application but when I was unable to get the plastic ones I used one of these.

I’ve never had an issue with them since. Tension required for opening/closing is adjustable via screws in the barrel.

Surprised considering how many Hunters that have those latches no one seems to have found an answer

Ditto here. Mis-alignment usually causes them to fail. Our 1991 boat came with these stupid plastic latches throughout (about 30). Both the fridge and freezer each have two. In all these years I've replaced two. One on the freezer and one on a cabinet. Just do not make things to last these days. I like them and have a couple of spares just in case. No plan to change.
