Hunter 41 anchor chain size

I mic'd the current anchor chain and it seems to 9mm. It is a Lewmar windlass and I was wondering if this was the norm for the 2006 version of this boat.

Our Maxwell windlass takes 5/16" G40. What exact part of the chain link did you measure to arrive at 9mm? It should be the narrowest space inside the link. To make sure what I did was to take one link to a local industrial supply company where they sold me the matching size in the length I wanted. Worked perfectly. They even let me borrow their link cutter at no charge.

I used a micrometer and measured it in several spots. It is not very consistent in measurement. That is why I asked the question. It seemed to average 9mm but by being marked 3B it should have an imperial measurement.

My 41DS came from the factory with 5/16 chain. The ACCO chain website shows a "wire" diameter of .329" which may be before galvanizing. Also I'm sure there is a tolerance in the wire diameter which may all be on the plus side.
