Just looking for any comments on the Hunter 40 (1985). I have an offer on the table for my 34 and am thinking of trading up to a mid eighties Hunter 40. They look as nice looking as the 34 but bigger with a walk thru aft cabin. I would be interested to here any advice and comments from any 40 owners out there. Many thanks Andrew

I'm heavily biased

since I own one. It's compromises work well for me. I couldn't own a boat that didn't sail really well. The biggest problem with buying one is that most H40's on the market are horribly abused by idiot owners who bought them because they're relatively inexpensive and then maintained them that way. Be persistent though, the gems are out there. See our website for the good and the bad.

One feature missing.

There are two things that I sometimes envy on newer boats. One is the big aft cabin and the other is a walk-through transom. As much as I like the H40 that big wide transom would stop me. Too bad, there are a couple of good ones available on Lake Erie.
