1994 Hunter 40.5. (Sorry I don't have any pictures of the damage)

I have some hull damage (small indentation about 2") on the starboard side about the area just behind the aft head vanity cabinet about 17 inches below the hull/deck joint. (The plastic or fiberglass cabinets with the mirrors that fold down above the sink in the aft head) This looks to be right behind that cabinet.

It looks like it may be able to be removed but I'm not sure. Has anyone ever removed this cabinet and if so how do you accomplish this. I see some screws on both sides as well as caulking along the top and bottom. If I can remove the cabinets it will be a lot easier to get to the area from the inside for the repair.

If there is room back there I am thinking about installing a 2 1/2 inch throughhull and use it for a high capacity bilge pump. That way I could avoid trying to match the gelcoat color and kill two birds with one stone.

Thanks in advance.

don't know beans about removing the locker but there is room for the holding tank vent, shower sump discharge, and head anti syphon loop behind them. You can check by opening the electrical panel at the nav station. I know I can reach quite a ways back there.
Be careful not to electrocute yourself on the exposed 110 circuits by turning disconnecting the shore power and turning off any inverter.

I would ask Hunter how to access that area. I know that you can see behind the forward vanity cabinet from the electrical panel, but when I put in a new holding tank vent I had a difficult time reaching and accomplishing that task. I can't image trying to do a fiberglass repair back there. Bill must have much smaller hands and lots longer arms than me if he can reach back there!

The contact I would recommend starting with is below:

Full Name: Mike Thomas
Company: Hunter Marine
Bus: (800) 771-5556 x3615
E-mail: customerservice@marlow-hunter.com

Mike may not be able to help but he should be able to connect you with someone you has the info you seek. Please share the "how to" with us after you learn. Take pictures too if you can. One never knows when it will be necessary to go where you are going.

There was a recent post on this board that Hunter (now Marlow-Hunter) is installing new phone and internet equipment so you may have a problem getting thru for a day or two. Look for the post for better info.
