Were some 2003 models sold as 2004 models? Seeing several advertised 2004 ones, but they have the CP table and binicals of the 2002/3. Also the settee on the port side is the white plastic versus the wooden version.

You should distinguish build year and model year.
My 38 is a 2004 build year and a 2005 model year.
Both are identified in the HIN number.
It was build in june 2004, shipped to France, used for the december 2004 boatshow in Paris and put in the water in 2005!

Typical hull identification number (HIN) consists of 12 letters and numbers. The first 3 are the US Coast Guard assigned manufacturer identification code (MIC), the next 5 is the serial number assigned by the manufacturer, the next letter represents the month construction , i.e., A = Jan, etc. started, the next number is the year of certification and the last digit of the year it was built and the last two number indicates the boat's model year.
My 2004 Hunter 386 had a construction start letter of "I" for September, "3" for certification and construction year and "04" at the end for model year.
