Thanks for your help! I hope to start to add the A/C soon. Did you need to cut openings for the ductwork or is there enough room for a 4 inch duct? We live about 90 minutes from the boat which is stored outside so the weather is always a challenge to work around. Thanks again for the information.I purchased this boat in Georgian Bay where A/C is not needed very often so I would like to put an A/C unit under the salon seat and duct the air to the stern cabin, but where is there room to put the duct?
Thanks
Dave
You want an AC in Sandusky? Why?
In 16 summers of 20 to 40 nights on our boat on Lake Erie, we have had one night when we could have used AC! The water stays below 75, and night air comes off the water, so we are quite comfortable with a fan to keep the air moving. This is especially true at anchor/mooring, where the bow always faces wind off the water, sending sweet air down our forward hatch. A wind funnel over the hatch enhances this effect.
David, your tough, we have had several boat w/o A/C, but a night with high humidity and no wind makes it difficult to sleep. We have fans but that is not enough; And a system with heat will be very nice in the spring and fall weather. By the way do you still keep a boat in Sandusky Harbor Marina, which is where we keep our boat? You want an AC in Sandusky? Why?
