We have a 2006 Hinter 38 with an electric head. The head always seems to be an odor issue. It is wiped down daily with bleach solution wipes. During use the switch needs to be hit in small burst to keep the head from splasjing back water or worse. Any similar problems or suggestions?

Several possibilities

You don't say what the make model of your toilet is...or whether it uses sea water or onboard pressurized flush water. If sea water, check the toilet discharge hose for a buildup of sea water minerals that has reduced the diameter of the hose enough create a restriction.

While you have the discharge hose off the toilet, replace the joker valve. That should be done at least every two years--annually is better...I suspect yours has never been replaced.

Also check your holding tank vent for a blockage...that would cause the system to become pressurized, creating back pressure that would cause the symptoms you describe. The two most common locations for a vent blockage are the vent thru-hull and the vent line connection to the tank...both that end of the hose and vent fitting on the tank. Use a screwdriver or whatever works to scrape out what you find. To prevent future blockage, backflush the vent every time you pump out and/or wash the boat.

Stop using the bleach wipes. If you're flushing 'em I already know what your problem is. Do you wipe out your toilet bowl at home with 'em every day? Then why do you think you need to do that on the boat? They certainly aren't improving the performance of your toilet...are actually damaging the rubber parts in the pump instead...and if you're flushing 'em you can ignore everything I've said above...they're your problem.
