Any owners know what model gearbox we have installed if we have the Yanmar 3JH4E engine? I believe it is the KM35P, but I'm not certain.

I'm trying to find an operation manual for the gearbox to make certain I'm following the service schedule for it. My engine operation manual says to refer to the gearbox operation manual for service requirements.

Already checked with Eddie at Hunter Customer Service; they don't have it. He referred me to the local distributor; I may end up contacting them for the manual.

I have the Yanmar 3JH3E diesel. Probably has the same transmission. The only maintenance required is to change the oil annually. This is straight 30W engine oil, not transmission fluid. Fill to the a level between the dip stick marks with the dipstick NOT screwed in, but resting inserted inside the transmission fiill hole.

There is no drain plug in the transmission housing. You have to pump the oil out from the dipstick opening. There's about a quart of oil in the transmission.
The dipstick does have a washer, but it should be fine unless it was damaged.

Thanks.

I have learned a lot more about this transmission in the past day or so than I thought possible.

Yanmar calls it the KM35P. It is one of the marine mechanical transmissions manufactured by Kanzaki, who call it the TTMC35P.

Correct lubricating oil is SAE #20 or #30.

Oil capacity is .5 liter.

The plastic dipsticks tend to break at the top. Replacements can be ordered from your Yanmar dealer.
