I just bought a Hunter 37.5' and have noticed that there is a continous line (1/4") running from just below the steaming light down to the base of the mast and then back up. The line is not running fare at all as it exits the mast base (it immedatly goes forward and the mast base faces aft) and it just looks like it is rigged "wrong" It does not seem to have any purpose. I thought that it might be a fitting for a spinaker pole uphaul but the boat is not set up for using a spinaker pole. Also, I noticed that there is an extra (2) "spinaker" halyard feature both at the mast base and where the current asemiterical spinaker leaves the mast. Is this just for speeding up changing sails or what? Bill Roosa

Could it be...

...just a messenger line that hasn't been used, but is intended for a spinnaker pole uphaul?

Could be but...

That is possable but it is internal on the mast so where is the "real" mast base exit? It is truly weird. Bill roosa
