Jim, I am very interested in two of Hunters older model boats. The two models that I am referring to are, the H37 legend, manufactured from 1986 to 89 and the Hunter 40, which was manufactured from 1984 to 90. Both models seem ,to me, to be a whole lot of boat for the money. So, to the point.......I've been trying to find as much technical data on these boats as possible. Specificly construction data. ie: foam cored hulls, cabin mast support, attachment of life line stanchions, chain plates attachment, hull to deck joint, rudder constuction, motor mounts. etc.. I've searched this site for construction info on these boats and have found a couple of references that discuss one component or another, but nothing that takes me from keel to mast on these boats. I know that they are older boats and it may not be possible to get this kind of information but I thought that I'd give it a try. Thank you for any help you can provide. Paul

h40 page

Jim, You can check out my h40 (85) webpage at http://home.att.net/~radars. If you email me (through the page) I have an 1985 article on the h40 and the sales booklet I can email you. I should get this stuff on my page. Mike sends

Scanning photos now

Photos and specs are being prepared to go online here. We probably don't have the the level of detail you want, but it's better than nothing. ph.

Check 40 too

I scanned a construction cutaway that is used in most of the brochures from the late-80s to early 90s, and appears to be the method they used to build their boats at the time. it's hard to read but worth viewing. p.

40 construction cutaway

Phil, I saw the update you did on the H40. The cutaway looks great...... but you're right, the comments are hard to read. The photo did, however, show how the shrouds were attached to a steel rod, which is attached to the hull. Nice to know they aren't attached to the deck. In any case, thanks again for your help. Paul

What have you learned?

Paul, Sherry and I have just started looking for our next boat after selling our 31 Hunter. We are asking the same questions that you seem to have already started to research. I would really like to find out what information you have on the 37 and 40 models. Please contact me at terryho@worldnet.att.net. Thanks
