Sometimes what seems to be the simplest tasks on a sailboat are not what they seem. On our 1991 Legend 37.5, there is a two blub fluorescent fixture over the salon table. One of the bulbs is burned out - a seemingly simple task to remedy. I removed the 2' square plastic cover to access the fixtures. Each fixture had a rectangular plastic cover attached. My partner and I tried for several mionutes to remove the fixture cover, but were unsuccessful. There did not seem to be any way to remove the cover without breaking it. Does anyone know how to remove this cover?

Bulbs

Steve, How many sailors does it take to replace a lite bulb? Seems I heard that question slightly differently. Ok. On my 91 37.5 the cover (2 inch wide and about 10 inches long) is removed by squeezing the sides together. There are 2 ribs that run along the edges and fit into groves in the metal frame/base plate. It seems like it will break but it didn't on mine anyway. I don't think you will find the exact lite for sale anymore so be careful or you will have to replace the unit. Good luck, Les s/v Mutual Fun

Thanks Les

Les You were right. It seemed like the cover would break when I removed it from the fixture as you suggested - but it didn't. Thanks for the help.
