Well I have listened/read all the information and suggestions regarding taming the leech luff issue with the Hunter supplied UK main. I tried all the suggestions, loosened the outhaul, loosened the halyard, work it like the jib, etc, etc) with little positive result so today after much investigation I bit the bullet and ordered a new "Zenith Main" from Doyle. This sail replaces their swing batten main which I was originally interested in based upon comments on HOW. In addition, I went a little more crazy and also ordered their U.P.S. which I guess is somewhere between a spinnaker and a drifter and has it's own roller furling and mounts off the anchor roller. So come on Spring I am tired of looking at ice in the Harbor or even the river (I work in Hoboken and it looks as though you could walk across to NYC). Doyle says they will deliver the sails to the boat, set all up and then sail with me to make sure all is right. So we shall see if this is money well spent or just a winter cabin fever idea but based upon the two season so far I think this just might work. Kathryn's bottom gets wet the last week of April, a couple weeks later then usual but based upon the view outside my window probably not a bad idea, can't wait.PS: When traveling to City Island today as I crossed the draw bridge I was amazed to see the number of boats still in the water and hard frozen in (no bubblers). One little sailboat seemed to be laying slightly to one side on top of the ice and others the same way but at their docks. I guess I am glad to be on the hard, at elast for a little while longer.Thinking warmer thoughts.Bob, sv Kathryn, Stamford, Ct
