Hunter 376 Georgia
Narrowed my boat search to either a 1997 Hunter 376; or a 2003 Hunter 356. Both boats are about the same price; in very good to excellent condition.

I am having difficulty in choosing because the 376 is a traditional rig; while the 356 is the B & R rig. I will be primarily be lake cruising; with an occasional club race; and be using as a weekender for 2-4 people.
Either one must be able to single hand.

Your comments are appreciated.

Thank You.

356

I have a 36 Hunter same boat as 356 and if it has IN-mast you will be able to singlehand no problem with the small 110 jib is easy sailing and with the arch over head with travelar controls close by can pretty much stay in cockpit.
Which ever boat is in the best conndition and has the options that you like, check them both out but I think the newer best condition boat would be my choice.
I don't know much about the 376 but having a 07 36 I think it is a great sailing boat and may need less repairs down the road and great boat with lots of storage and great over nighter or even longer trips,it has all newer modern equipment will not be needing much up grading like water and waste tanks, Hopefully some 376 owners will also jump in.

H376 is B & R too.

The H376 is a B & R rig also. i.e. 7/8 rig, large roach mainsail plus small 107% jib and no backstay. If the boat you are looking at is not like this then it isn't a 376. See decal on hull at aft end.
Edit:- Sorry Phil but I think the problem was at my end but it still condenses my .jpgs to death! {See also my scans of the H376 pamphlet attached to this. If this site has collapsed my .jpg files so the text is unreadable open the .pdf versions}

RDKAZ if you would like to see the original H376 brochure please private mail me through this site and include your e-mail ID so I can send direct to you.
Rgds,
Don.

Thnaks for the replies. I realized afterward that the 376 is a B & R rig; but doesn't have the main traveler located overhead. That is the question.
How important is this for single handing?
Thanks Again.

Depends on how far you have to go from the helm in order to reach the sheets or traveler. If you have auto pilot or wheel lock and all lines are led to the cockpit you should be able to handle her.
