Does anyone know what the length of the throttle cable is for a 1992 hunter 35.5 . The one i have is getting real hard to push forward.

thanks

Are you sure it is the cable? Try disconnecting it at the injection pump and moving the lever by hand. If the cable moves cleanly the pump lever is binding. I removed the cover with the lever attached and cleaned and lubricated it. Fixed the problem.

A correction:
After rethinking my answer about the throttle cable I remembered that it was the shut-off cable that was getting hard to move. But I would still check the throttle cable the same way. If the cable is starting top bind it might pay to try using penetrating oil from both ends to see if the cable will free up.

I found Invoice from purchasing Teleflex Morse 33C Red Jacket (301947) cables in 2004. I replaced BOTH the Throttle and Tranny cables at the suggestion of Bay Breeze Yacht Charter's chief mechanic, even though only one was binding... and I'm glad I did. The extra $50 for second cable was well worth the peace of mind and not having to do that job again for many, many years. The cables were 14ft and 16ft and i'm not near my boat to tell you which was which, but one quick look at your engine and you'll know which has to be longer. NOTE TO REMEMBER: There is a "Cable Tension Screw" on the Throttle Cable located at the top of Edson Pedestal. Once you get the new cable installed, you'll probably notice that when you push throttle ahead to give gas (engine OFF) and release, the throttle handle comes right back at you under its own power. The new cable is so slippery (inside) that you need to crank the "Cable Tension Screw" down to induce some friction to hold Throttle in desired position. No Tension screw on Tranny cable. And, depending on what you have mounted on the top of your Edson Pedestal, it is a JOB to get back to that Tension Screw again, so get it where you want it the first time. My suggestion: Buy both cables. Good luck.

Richard, Thanks very much for the advice/ I took the compas off the pedistal and i saw what you meen. Not sure my hands are small enough to get that screw on so i'm taking my wife. I can blame it on her when she drops it.
