Replacing the standing rigging can have some options. You can just replace the wire and keep the turnbuckles, for instance. That'll save you $500 or so... You can do it yourself. Go to an online rigging site. Order the wire, purchase the fittings, cut the wire and install the fittings yourself. That can order the wires precut with sweged on fittings by the supplier (that's my choice) then get a friend to haul you up the mast and save quite a bit on labor. OR.... and this may be best for you... hire a local (independent) rigger... to give you and estimate and let him guide you in replacing the various fittings. The reason I recommend "local, independent" riggers is that large rigging companies largely more costly and less willing to work with you to help your budget. Many of these types have relationships with large yacht clubs and wealthy racers, so they pattern their services to the big bucks type of yacht owner... Therefore I recommend you get online or solicit your marina management for their recommendations...at least start getting some of your own estimates. Finally, DIY makes it possible to replace the rigging by increments, as the budget and time allows. Good luck.
