get It
Daryl:I bought my 376 last year (1996) and I was nervous about the in mast system already on the boat. I had heard stories of jamming, poor performance, etc. However, I have come to really enjoy the system. The system is 5 years old (came standard on the boat) and worked flawlessly every time. It is ridiculously easy to reef...... don't even have to luff up to do it, and there is no storing or flaking the sail after each use.I suppose there is a performance loss to some degree. However, I don't plan to race (maybe the odd race here and there), and trying to squeeze the last 1/2 knot out of the sails was not an issue. Also,it is easy to balance the sails if weather helm is an issue, which it is for me. Just roll a little of the main up in the mast and......no more weather helm.If there is a drawback, it does take quite a few cranks on the winch to get it furled. But it is still a shorter process than dousing a "normal" mainsail.I say go for it if you are not a dyed in the wool racer......... Jeff
